Paul Burrell, the former butler of Princess Diana, has suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should be deprived of their royal titles in the light of the unveiling of the controversial documentary trailer.
Princess Diana’s Former Butler Paul Burrell Calls For Harry And Meghan’s Royal Titles To Be Stripped
The ex-employee, who is 64-years-old, said that while Princess Diana would have supported Harry’s actions to protect his family, she wouldn’t have been a fan of the monetary elements around it.
Therefore, it no longer made any sense for the Sussexes to have the royal titles if they were not keen on using them as part of the firm.
When speaking to Piers Morgan, Burrell said: “The don’t want to be members of the royal family, so why should they trade on royal titles. She always thought it was Harry’s job to be William’s wingman.
“To be there for him on his path to monarchy.” Nevertheless, this is going to be harder than first thought. First of all, King Charles III cannot do this by himself, as it would require an act of Parliament to make it happen.
But even if that were the case, the removal of the titles may signal the ending of relations for good. Secondly, not everyone saw that the docuseries was such a bad thing.
Commentator Paula Rhone-Adrien felt this was the perfect opportunity for the Sussexes to clear up any misunderstandings and get their side of the story across.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “We’re talking about racism. Talking about people who feel that their mental health was so affected that she was going to commit suicide.”
The response on social media backed up what Burrell had to say. A significant proportion of people felt it no longer made sense to have titles since the couple were so outspoken against the firm anyway.
One person wrote: “I agree they should not have any titles. It doesn’t make sense, if you’ve endured so much abuse being part of the Royal Family.”
So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
