If there’s one thing that’s great about professional wrestling is how they borrow from real life, fiction, and from each other from moves to characters to storylines.
It’s what helps keep us tied to the matches and build up, and we see so many of the same angles and storylines repeated with twists and turns added in or directly copied and we eat it up.
Vince Russo’s Upset Rhea Ripley is Booked Like Chyna
That repetitive nature was something that drove all but the hardcore WWE fans insane the last few years with Vince McMahon running things.
Since taking over WWE Creative, Triple H has breathed new life into the product as he’s made it fun while also using anything he can to enhance the product and make it more entertaining.
One of those has been the build and push of Rhea Ripley as a dominate monster in the women’s division. Early on it was apparent her push was modeled after Chyna’s back in the late 90s.
Chyna was a phenomenal talent that broke through all sorts of barriers, including winning the predominately men’s Intercontinental Championship.
I can’t believe the SAME GUY-@TripleH-who OVERSAW every, single thing that Chyna did in the ring, is the SAME GUY booking @RheaRipley_WWE . Blows my Mind.

Of course, Ripley’s build has caught the attention and heat from Vince Russo.
Never happy
If there’s one thing that’s expected from former wrestlers and promoters on their podcasts is to fluff up their own careers and attack anything they disagree with. It gets their fanbase fired up and it’s fun for all involved.
And most of the time there’s plenty of wisdom to be had for those listening.
Recently, Russo took to Twitter to criticize Triple H for booking Ripley like Chyna.
“I can’t believe the SAME GUY-@TripleH-who OVERSAW every, single thing that Chyna did in the ring, is the SAME GUY booking @RheaRipley_WWE . Blows my Mind.”
This could be taken several ways, and one of them is Russo wants Chyna to remain alone at the top of the mountain and he doesn’t agree with the booking.
It makes sense, though Ripley sells for others while Chyna tended to destroy everyone and not sell so much, so there is a marked difference.
Another possibility is Russo doesn’t like seeing something copied, but considering he and Ed Ferrara wrote the shows while watching Jerry Springer and reworked their shows through Vince McMahon’s image kinda throws salt into the face of that argument.
There are plenty of other reasons Russo could be upset at this, but what do you think? Is he right to be upset, and do you think Ripley is Triple H’s new version of Chyna? Let us know in the comments below.
