When Roxanne Perez won the Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline, she earned another chance to become NXT Women’s Champion. She was intended to get her chance at New Years Evil, but after being struck from behind earlier in the night by Rose? Perez decided to move that up. She would call Rose out for a defence here tonight, and the champion would accept.
Since her last title shot, Perez has been able to move beyond her issues with Cora Jade – and has a chance to move unhindered into championship glory tonight. Add in that Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne are nowhere to be seen after a brawl with Diamond Mine and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, and this is the best chance anyone has had to dethrone Rose in 413 days.
Roxanne Perez Is A Different Wrestler Than The Last Time She Faced Mandy Rose
Perez would apply a headlock as the match began, being shoved off into a shoulder tackle. Rose was launched with a set of arm drags, before being rolled into a pinfall for a two count. A knee lift to the midsection would follow, before Rose tried for a spear into the corner – missing Perez and getting the ring post instead.
Perez would follow Rose to the floor with a dive, before looking for Pop Rocks on the floor. Rose would counter, before throwing Perez shoulder first into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Rose would keep the pressure on using an arm lock – with Perez fighting free with an arm drag.
Perez would look for a Russian Leg Sweep, but Rose was able to counter before taking a shotgun dropkick. Running uppercut into the corner would be blocked with a big boot to the shoulder. Rose would be kicked on the top rope, before falling to a Avalanche Hurricanrana for a two count.
All Reigns Must End Eventually
Perez would be caught with a reverse Gutwrench Suplex, before avoiding Kissed By The Rose. Rose would be able to get a crossface applied, with Perez fighting hard to remain in the match. Kissed By The Rose would follow, and someone Perez would kick out before three.
Rose would waste time arguing with the referee about the count, allowing Perez to recover. Angel’s Wings would be blocked, into a roll up for two. Perez would land Pop Rocks, and we have a new NXT Women’s Champion! At just 21 years old – Perez has won her first singles championship in WWE.
