It’s time for the Best of Seven Series between The Elite & Death Triangle to finally come to an end. Despite gaining a 3-0 lead, Death Triangle were unable to end the series before we reached Match #7. After going through No Holds Barred and Falls Count Anywhere matches, there’s only one more level to go in this massive trios series. It’s time for Escalera De La Muerte, or as fans in the United States know it – a ladder match.
The AEW World Trios Championships have been hanging high above the ring, and the first team to retrieve them is the undisputed champion. Kenny Omega can’t be 100% coming into this match after his brutal match with Will Ospreay at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, but The Young Bucks wisely took the week off – and are ready to make up for whatever Omega is lacking tonight.
Jericho Appreciation Society Gets Interrupted By Ricky Starks & Action Andretti
Before this match, we’d get The Jericho Appreciation Society hitting the ring. Jericho is on a bit of a losing streak in AEW, but a debut in PWG would see him get a much needed victory. Last time we saw him on Dynamite, he lost to Ricky Starks – but was able to get the last laugh sending Starks through a table.
Parker & Menard would get things started, asking the crowd to ponder what makes Daddy Magic’s nipples hard. Powerbombing Ricky Starks through a table does just that. Jericho would say this is one of the biggest weeks in Jericho Appreciation Society history. They would invade Battle of Los Angeles, this Friday TayJay are gonna kick ass in a Street Fight, Action Andretti was sent back to the minor leagues and Starks was put through a table – ending his time in the spotlight.
At this mention, the music of Starks would hit – and he’d have Andretti by his side. Rumours of Starks demise were greatly overstated. Starks would claim that he’s harder to get rid of than that, and Andretti told Jericho to shut his mouth before he comes to the ring and shoves a bat up his ass.
Garcia tried to respond, but Andretti shut him down asking if his babysitter Sammy Guevara even lets him speak. Starks would call for Jericho to step aside, as he’s got an issue with Jake Hager, the man that put him through a table last week. Hager was a top athlete turned village idiot, and next week – he wants Hager one on one.
High Speed Trios Action In Escalera De La Muerte
Omega would still be sporting a black eye from his match with Will Ospreay, but also had the IWGP United States Championship – keen on becoming a double champion tonight. An instant brawl would break out with everyone splitting off. There were tables set up at ringside, as Omega & Nick would take backstabbers in the ring from Penta & PAC. Matt would rush the ring, but took a kick to the face.
Omega would hit The Dunk on Penta, before Nick hit a facebuster on PAC. Penta would lift Nick into the air, and PAC hit a slingshot cutter. Omega was sent to the floor and hit with a dive from Fenix, before The Young Bucks would work together with a dive to the floor themselves. Fenix would set up a ladder in the ring, with Matt hitting a Destroyer on Penta before being taken off the ladder with an arm drag from Fenix.
Omega would be quick to prevent Fenix from climbing, and tipped the ladder over. Terminator Dive would be prevented by PAC, who took the Snap Dragon Suplex. Omega would go for the dive, but missed PAC and crashed through a table. Matt would catch PAC moments later, both men crashing through the table.
Nick would stand and fight in the ring, trying to take on The Lucha Bros – but taking a double superkick and being thrown into the ladder. Omega would pull himself into the ring, but was taken down and had a ladder kicked into this tailbone. Matt would meet Penta in the ring to prevent any climbers, with Nick helping drive Penta into the corner with a ladder.
Kenny Omega Secures The Belt
Young Bucks would set up Penta on the ladder for some Risky Business, only for Penta to fight free. Nick was caught on the top rope with a frankensteiner and had a nasty landing on the ladder with his back and knees taking the brunt of the damage, but also landing on his neck. Omega tried to grab a ladder from ringside, but PAC would stomp his hands using the ladder.
PAC would try to climb the ladder but Omega nearly caught him with the One Winged Angel. The Poisonrana would be the counter, before Lucha Bros hit the Fear Factor. Matt was set up in the ring for a double suplex into the ladder, but Nick recovered to join in on a superkick party. Matt would hit the Northern Lights Suplex on Fenix into the ladder, before Nick noticed Penta on a table at ringside to crashed through with a 450 Splash.
Matt would start the climb and managed to get a hand on one of the belts. The Lucha Bros hype man Alex Aberhantes would get involved, shoving the ladder over – only to be taken down with a V-Trigger from Omega. PAC would drag Omega to the floor and hit the Falcon Arrow.
Matt would stomp the climb of PAC, but Lucha Bros would get him from behind – with Fenix setting up a ladder from the ropes onto the rungs of the standing ladder, and Penta hit the Fear Factor. Fenix would look to climb, but Omega stomped him and hit a One Winged Angel off the ladder. PAC would go for Black Arrow, but Omega got the knees up. He’d complete the climb, and The Elite win this series 4-3 – and are named AEW World Trios Champions once again.
