Brian Cage is the next man in the path of Bryan Danielson, as Danielson looks for a shot at the AEW World Championship. After beating Konosuke Takeshita & Bandido, Danielson has had a hard month – and Cage has been ordered to simply break the arm of Danielson. MJF already paid Cage & Prince Nana to make this happen, even if Cage doesn’t like how MJF spoke to him.
Tonight, Cage gets a chance to tune himself up, as he faces as old Lucha Underground rival in Willie Mack. Mack most recently spent some time in Impact Wrestling, and makes his AEW TV debut tonight. He recently even took Cage to the limits on AEW Dark, and this is a big chance for him.
Willie Mack Takes Brian Cage To His Limits
Mack would show his agile side as Cage grabbed a wrist lock, with Cage able to match this. They’d show some lucha style, with Mack tossing Cage with a spinning arm drag into a Samoan Drop. Mack wasted some time taunting before going for a standing moonsault, with Cage dodging before hitting a single leg dropkick and a release German Suplex.
Cage would put Mack in the corner for the pump kick, and got all of it. Mack would avoid a Death Valley Driver on the apron, but not the Side Effect – with his spine crashing into the hardest part of the ring. Cage would get some stomps in on the ribs of Mack, before he’d throw his rival into the barricade – breaking it.
Back in the ring, Cage would hit a cocky elbow drop before doing some push ups. Some stomps would follow in the corner – with Cage opting to eventually just choke Mack with the heel of his boot while Prince Nana mocked Mack from ringside. Mack would land a Zero Fighter Kick as he mounted a comeback, following up with a pop up elbow smash into a Sky High for a two count.
Cage would land the F5 and made a cocky cover, thinking Mack was done – only to be left shocked. The buckle bomb and rolling lariat was blocked, with Mack missing the Skull Kick. Cage hit a jumping knee, powerbomba and the Drillclaw for the victory.
The Vanity Twins Don’t Stop Jade Cargill From Reaching 49-0
Jade Cargill has cut Red Velvet loose from The Baddies, unable to trust Velvet going forward. With just Leila Grey by her side – the TBS Champion will hit the ring tonight for tag team action, looking for a dominant victory to put her to 49-0. The Vanity Twins, Jaida & Jordyn Vanity are their opponents, making their AEW debut.
Grey would start with Jaida, hitting a mat return before being taken into a side headlock. Jaida would be shoved off and taken down with a jumping shoulder tackle. Jordyn got a tag, and was instantly thrown face first into the corner. Cargill would get the tag – and kept the beating coming to Jordyn, choking her in the corner.
Grey would hit a tight neckbreaker in the ring, and allowed Jaida to make the tag. Sit Out Facebuster would follow, with Grey almost pinning – with Cargill saying no. She wants the glory, and would get the tag – hitting Jaded for the win. That’s win 49, making the next match of Cargill the potentially huge 50-0.
