2023 will mark the final year of the in-ring career of ‘The Natural’ Dustin Rhodes. Mainly known to modern fans as Goldust from his time in WWE, the son of Dusty Rhodes has been around in professional wrestling for five different decades, and despite slowing his schedule down – remains one of the best to lace up a pair of boots. Right now, he’s got a few months left on his contract in All Elite Wrestling, and Tony Khan feel that if Rhode’s wanted, he could still remain in the ring for years to come.
Tony Khan Respects The Hell Out Of Dustin Rhodes
During an appearance on the ‘Sport Guys Talk Wrestling’, Tony Khan would express just how long he’s been a fan of Dustin Rhodes, and how much he respects him. Khan was quoted saying the following.
“Dustin Rhodes is one of the best pro wrestlers of my lifetime. I’ve been looking up to Dustin Rhodes since I first started watching pro wrestling. He’s one of the first wrestlers I saw and throughout his career, he’s maintained a really high standard of excellence. His physical fitness right now is at a premium … I think Dustin could continue on for many, many years and wrestle at a very high standard for a long time to come. I respect the hell out of Dustin Rhodes.”
Rhodes Recently Lost His Mother
Dustin Rhodes last wrestled for AEW on the December 14th, teaming with Best Friends to defeat Kip Sabian, Trent Seven, The Butcher & The Blade. Rhodes recently lost his mother, and is expected to take time off from wrestling due to that. Given the respect Khan has for Rhodes, he will be given as much as he needs – but hopefully will have enough time for one last run of matches before his AEW contract expires.
Even if Rhodes never laces up his boots again, the man is a certified legend in this industry. He had his dark moments, but was always able to bounce back – and his run in AEW proved just how excellent he truly was. Rhodes is a headliner for any class of a Hall of Fame in wrestling history, and deserves all the respect he gets and more.
