When you think about the UFC there are only a few people that pop into mind. Usually, that is your favorite fighter, and of course Dana White and Joe Rogan. Dana White and Joe Rogan had become a trademark for the UFC. It is almost impossible to imagine a UFC event without one or the other. However, after taking part in a domestic violence incident, Dana White might face a resignation.
If Dana White or Joe Rogan leave the UFC, that would be definitely an end of a very successful era for the promotion and for the sport in general. They are the people that were there when the sport caught traction, and they are still there, more than 20 years later.
Joe Rogan Might Lose His UFC Contract After Fans Demand Dana White To Resign
Nevertheless, a couple of months ago, at a press conference, Dana White assured his supporters that his retirement is far off. However, he added that he begins to see the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’. He is aware that he approaches an age where he needs to start thinking about retirement. Now, with the controversy surrounding his New Year’s Eve incident – this day might come early for Dana White.
Joe Rogan, the other iconic character in the UFC, might end up caught in the whole whirlwind of events. He might be the first person that will follow Dana White’s lead and leave the UFC after Dana’s resignation. A couple of months ago, the UFC commentator revealed to the public that there is a contract that bonds him to Dana White.
“I have it in my contract that when he leaves, I leave. He brought me in. I’m like, ‘I don’t wanna work with anybody else’. It’s so easy working for him. He’s so wild and so crazy.” – Joe Rogan told his guest.
Joe Rogan is a person that has massive respect and love for Dana White. Of course, this is regardless of what Dana White does in his private life. The respect between them is earned throughout the years as they worked together and managed to push the company through the massive debt and raise it to the level it is today.
Having this in mind, if both of them leave at the same time, it will be a huge loss for the MMA community.
However, for now, Dana White and Joe Rogan fans can relax. The UFC, nor its owners, reacted to Dana White’s incident. Seems like Dana White will have a free pass from the business. But, the situation with the UFC fighters and the UFC fans is not so bright.
There are numerous callouts to Dana White by fans, asking him to leave the UFC voluntarily after the incident. News outlets call for the UFC president’s resignation. Stories about this still circle the internet, two weeks after it happened. This suggests that the fans will not easily let go of it.
Dana White went and apologized for his actions on TMZ, however, seems like a simple apology won’t do the trick. The fans are demanding a more rigorous measure against the UFC president.
