King Charles III has allegedly urged the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, to negotiate a compromise to make it possible for Prince Harry to be present at his Coronation.
King Charles III Urges The Archbishop of Canterbury To Broker Peace Deal Allowing Harry To Attend His Coronation
Sources stress that this would allow Harry to mend his relations with Prince William, but the latter appears to be reluctant. There has been much discussion as to whether Harry and Meghan Markle would attend the high-profile event.
This was further fueled by the recent release of Harry’s memoir, Spare, which contained a number of scathing comments about members of the Royal Family.
Not only that, but since the Coronation is on the same day as Archie’s fourth birthday, would the Sussexes miss out on that for the event?
It is rumoured that the King believes that if Harry and Meghan don’t show up at the Coronation, it will be a larger distraction than their attendance, so he is willing to make allowances in order to encourage them to be present.
William, on the other hand, is apprehensive that his brother may use the occasion to put on a show that would take the attention away from the event. He is afraid that if Harry’s trip is not strictly controlled, he and Meghan could grab the spotlight.
The following comments confirmed as much: “All the indications are that Harry is being advised to agree to nothing at this stage and ‘play it long’ right up to the last minute, which is making negotiations with him very difficult.”
The social media response was very clear. A significant proportion of people advised against the idea of inviting the Sussexes since they had already burnt too many bridges.
One person wrote: “What a terrible decision. They will ruin it and use the event to do more damage to the monarchy. Some may same a great decision but to me it’s showing weakness.”
