We’re just a few weeks away from the next WWE NXT PPV – as the Black & Gold brand once again goes on the road. One of the confirmed matches is The New Day defending the NXT Tag Team Championships against both Pretty Deadly & Gallus. This is the second encounter against Pretty Deadly for Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods – and New Day look at Pretty Deadly as perhaps the next big thing in the WWE tag team division.
Kofi Kingston Feels Pretty Deadly Are A Special Talent
While speaking on Corey Graves’ “After The Bell” podcast, Kofi Kingston would not shy away from praising his current rivals. He’d have the following to say about Pretty Deadly.
“We were presented with that opportunity to go over to NXT and we’re like, ‘Yeah, of course, we’d love to do that’, and especially working with Pretty Deadly is something that we had been wanting to do for a very long time. From a character perspective watching them in NXT, like, these guys are ridiculous in the best way possible. Just the way that they look, you want to boo them and that was proven. We actually had a live event loop with them a couple of weeks ago. They just walked out and everyone just automatically booed them. I’m like, you don’t even know who these guys are. They have such a special talent.”
Since arriving in WWE, Pretty Deadly have had a rapid rise. They first won the NXT UK Tag Team Championships, before moving to the United States and winning the NXT Tag Team Championships. They’d become two time champions of both belts before long, being the team to unify the belts at NXT Worlds Collide 2022.
This led to them defeating every possible team in NXT, before being faced with The New Day. It seems likely that Vengeance Day is going to be the end of New Day’s brief run on the brand, with the door always left open for them to show up again.
