Dana White assaulted his wife in a nightclub in Mexico on the New Year’s Eve and somebody got the happening on camera. As you’d imagine the situation escalated and the video became world news. However, was the publicity given to the event enough? Well, actors Jamie Foxx and D.L. Hugley are sure that is wasn’t.
Just one day after the video of Dana White slapping his wife leaked, the UFC president took the stand and apologized for his behavior. While he confessed to the ‘horrible’ behavior, he confirmed that “there’s never ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman, and now here I am on TMZ talking about it.”
African American Actors Criticize Media For Pardoning Dana White For Assaulting Wife Because He is White
Dana White confessed on the assault, but many world-class outlets decided not to criticize him for his actions. Instead, they decided to either remain silent, or offer their support to the White family. The same applies for Dana White’s collaborators, and employers.
Stephen A Smith from ESPN publicly offered Dana White his support and even said that he is doing so because “he is a friend. I love him”.
Kevin Iole from Yahoo Sports wrote an article in support of Dana White’s character. Which is extremely odd, taking into consideration he literally just assaulted his wife in front of the whole world. Nevertheless, he wrote about how Dana White focused on starting up charitable causes, and how he created thousands of jobs. Furthermore, he praised the UFC president for helping people that are in need. In his eyes, Dana White is everything, but an abuser.
Actor D.L. Hughley is amongst the first ones to respond to the ‘easy treatment’ that Dana White had in comparison to other people that were caught in a similar situation. He took to Instagram and wrote about the double standards that are in play when Dana White is in question.
“What can BROWN do for you? Apparently not a damn thing!” – D.L. Hughley says in the caption. “If that had been a brotha, it’d be NONSTOP coverage. Dredging up a playground fight from the 3rd grade, scouring old tweets, you name it. However, #DanaWhite ‘s ENTIRE LIFE is immersed in brutal , physical violence, he’s amassed a fortune from it. Where are the salacious headlines?? Where’s the pressure?? Ohhhhh, he apologized. #WhitePrivilege (PUN INTENDED) scores a 1st round knockout yet again.”
This post didn’t go unnoticed. People shared, liked, and then commented on the post. One of the top comments is fellow actor’s Jamie Foxx comment. “F**king preach!” – Jamie Foxx wrote and shared the post.
