That is according to historian David Starkey. These comments came amid reports that Harry’s memoir, Spare, had led to an increase in the number of people in Australia demanding that the country become a republic following a poll.
And this was partly due to the attacks the Duke leveled against the Royal Family, which came in light of Meghan’s growing influence. In his comments, David said: “There are two Harrys, aren’t there? There is the Harry you knew.
And there is the Harry that has been taken over by Meghan. I mean Harry is a convert to the new religion of woke, the person who converted him was Meghan.”
Nevertheless, it is important to read those comments in light of the following factors. First of all, the promotional tour of Harry’s book had indicated that this was the Duke of Sussex’s venture.
Meghan was absent from making appearances alongside Harry, unlike her Archetypes podcast, where she took centre stage. Secondly, since Harry’s memoir was meant to be an unfiltered account of his time in the firm, anything less than that would have question marks over the book.
And yet, David doubled down on his belief. His following comments confirmed as much: “You always need a priest and a priestess if you convert somebody and she has converted him.
“Of course, the poor lad is too stupid, he’s basically very stupid. He’s nice but stupid which is why the Army was so good for him.”
The response on social media was much the same. A large proportion of people felt David’s comments were telling given the lack of Meghan’s own family at her wedding.
One person wrote: “No family at the wedding…other than Mum…at a ROYAL WEDDING?? Wouldn’t that be a sign?KC walked her down the aisle.”
