At NJPW x Stardom – KAIRI would overcome the challenge of Mayu Iwatani to become the first female champion in NJPW history, getting to hold the IWGP Women’s Championship high. Tonight she makes her first defence, as she faces someone who rose through the ranks of Stardom while KAIRI was becoming an international star in WWE. Tam Nakano is someone with two sides, with her cute aesthetic making some underestimate her violence. KAIRI knows what Nakano is capable of, and is ready for war here tonight.

Tam Nakano Brings An Intense High Speed Fight To KAIRI

KAIRI & Nakano would lock up in the middle of the ring, with Nakano shoved onto the ropes – and KAIRI allowing a nearly clean break, patting the head of Nakano and punching her in the gut. Nakano would apply a headlock, with Kairi shoving her off before being rolled into a sitting position and kicked in the face. KAIRI would show her adaptability, changing direction with a brutal spear.

Walking the plank, KAIRI set up the sliding forearm smash, before calling out to the fans and hitting a flying lariat. Nakano would find her feet and use her dancer’s balance with a spinning heel kick. KAIRI was sent out to the floor by this, and Nakano would dive off the top with crossbody to keep the pressure on.

Back in the ring, Nakano would hit the German Suplex with a perfect bridge – only getting a two count. Nakano would block that Cutlass spinning backfist, and pulled a bag out of the playbook of Scott Steiner with the Violent Screwdriver for a two count. KAIRI would find her footing and nail another Cutlass backfist, before the Insane Elbow would end this match in a flash. A short by incredibly violent first defense for KAIRI.

Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) Is HERE!

While celebrating her victory, the lights would go dim. The sound of slot machines would hit, and a former WWE RAW Women’s Champion, NXT Women’s Champion and Smackdown Women’s Champion – the CEO – Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) is here in the TOKYO DOME! The hottest free agent in professional wrestling is here in NJPW, and this was the worst kept secret of 2023.

Stealing the spotlight, Mercedes Mone was dressed to compete and would drop the champion. She’d take the microphone, and she would congratulate KAIRI on making history. Mone is used to doing that, and is here in NJPW & Stardom to make some more – and prove while she’s The Blueprint and CEO of the division. At Battle In The Valley, Mone is taking the title – and KAIRI can try to stop her.

Will Mercedes Mone be the second ever IWGP Women’s World Champion? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
