Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not receive an invitation to the BAFTA Tea Party that was held on Saturday 14th January, 2023 likely due to the fallout from Harry’s memoir, titled Spare.
Harry And Meghan Didn’t Receive A BAFTA Tea Party Invite
This book, released on the 10th of January, included some shocking revelations such as the allegation that his brother, Prince William, had physically attacked him and the opinion of King Charles III that Harry was the “spare”.
Despite the Royal Family maintaining their silence on the subject, there has been a considerable amount of negative reaction to the claims.
According to The Sun, a US public relations team was interested in utilising the couple’s Netflix series for publicity, however, the executives in London deemed it not suitable to do so.
A source confirmed the following: “BAFTA decided it was a terrible idea, they thought it would be a PR disaster. Prince Harry, in his book and docu-series, has roundly attacked the Royal Family.”
According to a BAFTA advisor, Prince William, who is 40 years old, is the president of BAFTA, and it was suggested that if Meghan and Harry went to the event, it would be like ‘setting off a nuclear bomb.’
Moreover, any interviews they might have taken part in would have spread quickly. In spite of this, BAFTA’s PR personnel have affirmed that it never even came up that Meghan and Harry go to the tea party in Los Angeles, which is intended for the people involved in this year’s movie awards season.
The response on social media was very damning. A large number of people were of the view that this could hurt the Sussexes since it would go against their desire to enter into the celebrity world. One person wrote: “That will hurt.”
It is fair to say that the BAFTA’s have made their position clear. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
