Things behind the scenes in a wrestling company are often more engaging than what’s in front of the camera, and that’s never been more true than the current WWE backstage situation.
While it seems there’s peace there for the moment, there have been reports that everyone is nervous about Vince McMahon taking full control once again after forcing himself onto the board.
Stephanie McMahon spoke to the WWE employees and gave every indication that things will continue as they were and there was nothing to be worried about.
Then a day later she resigned from the company and speculation ran rampant, with the prevailing thought that Vince forced her out, and Dave Meltzer seemed to confirm that on Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
They couldn’t work together
As Meltzer pointed out, it looks like Stephanie and Vince couldn’t work together, and that could be for a myriad of reasons if true.
Special thanks to TJR Wrestling for the following transcript:
“Her leaving after assuring employees she was staying and the company saying the same raises flags. Those close to the situation in WWE tried to present her decision to leave as being related to the decision last year, that after Levesque’s heart situation, she reevaluated her life, wanted to raise her three daughters and was wealthy enough that money will never be a concern. But she came back when Vince was in trouble.
“That doesn’t explain why this was a resignation and she left the board and cut all ties with the company she has worked for since she was a teenager. It was also conceded that she and Vince did have issues in working together as family members and how Khan was a buffer who kept things smooth between them as well as between Vince and Levesque.”
In many ways, this shows the company’s in some kind of turmoil and it doesn’t put Vince in a good light, but there could always be other parts of this we won’t ever learn about.
There are other reports from Fightful Select saying that Stephanie’s team was dismantled and it left her disheartened and frustrated, so there’s definitely more to this than we’ve heard.
What’s really curious is it was previously reported that Stephanie and Triple H were against the company being sold, but according to Meltzer they are in favor of it so Vince is no long the majority share holder.
Stephanie was in the news as a few days after she resigned when she shared an image of her following a procedure on her ankle.
We wish her the best and a speedy recovery.
