The tag team division on Monday nights is as close to nonexistent as you can possibly get. They not only need tag teams on the men’s side but also a few more teams for the women’s tag team division. Here are three teams made up of random wrestlers on the roster that could work out.
Omos and R-Truth
Take a wrestler who has a great, dominate look but no personality and pair him with an older wrestler that is one of the most entertaining people that the company has had in the past 20 years.
While this is a pairing that would come straight out of left field, I think that it could work. R-Truth would obviously be the one that would have to be the one that takes most of the beatings during the matches, it would be a good way to protect Omos.
This would probably be one of those face/heel pairings that are super rare but works over time. Usually, the babyface is so likeable that it leads to the fans starting to like the heel that they are paired with.
The person that would benefit the most from this pairing would of course be Omos. He has a lot of areas that he could improve in and a veteran like R-Truth is someone that could help him along with that.
Nikki Cross and Tamina
The women’s tag team division is not in a good spot overall just like the men’s tag division on Raw isn’t in a good spot. At this point, it really doesn’t matter who they have, they just need teams.
For some reason, it seems like Tamina is the person that they use whenever they want to put a woman into a tag team that is going to go nowhere. This is one of those teams.
Nikki Cross isn’t doing anything right now and so is Tamina. Why not put them together until they find something for them to do?
Of course, there is really no long-term future for this team but it is a way to get two experienced ladies on television and give the division some fresh teams. Whenever they want to do something with Cross as a singles wrestler, they can.
Akira Tozawa and Mustafa Ali
This could be a fun tag team. I think that Akira Tozawa has been doing the silly comedy stuff for so long that people may have forgotten that he is actually a very good wrestler.
Mustafa Ali is one of the saddest situations in the company. In ring, he is just as good as any wrestler that they have on the roster, yet he has a hard time getting people to care about what he is doing.
Putting these two together, I think that unlike the other two makeshift teams on the roster, that this team could actually get some legs under them as a babyface team and possibly win the Raw tag team titles when they eventually make their return.
This could also be a way to relaunch Ali’s momentum and make him a big singles star once again.
