This week’s episode of AEW Dark features some good names and hopefully great in ring action. Last week, we had a good show. Here are your weekly good parts of AEW Dark.
The Good from AEW Dark
The show started out great with the six-man tag involving Top Flight and AR Fox against The Wingmen. I really like the act of The Wingmen. There are times that silly and entertaining just work and they are one of those examples.
AR Fox and Top Flight looked great together. Their styles are very similar. This doesn’t always work out but in this case, it does. I think that they make a good trio, but I would rather see Top Flight as a regular tag team instead of a trio.
I like AR Fox, but I don’t see him as a star or champion in that way. If they do become a trio, I think that Fox would be there to take the fall so that Top Flight don’t get pinned in their matches.
The Zack Clayton match was fine. It was a squash and it did what it had to do. Nothing to note from this match.
I really like when AEW plugs the shows that happen throughout the week and upcoming events. I think that they should not only do this more on the show but have the announcers talk about what is going on.
I have been waiting to see Brian Pillman Jr and Brock Anderson debut as a tag team. The match was short but they look like a great young tag team. I hope that they let them gel together slowly week after week instead of trying to make them become big too fast.
The Skye Blue match was good. The fans love Skye Blue but I think that the star of this short match was Renee Michelle. She has a lot of charisma and looked good in the ring.
I think that her strikes were kind of light looking but everything else was good. I think that she would make a great heel. She got a great look and I think that she could probably have an obnoxious pretty woman gimmick.
On a side note, Skye Blue’s finisher move is absolutely terrible. This seems to be a running joke with many of the women in AEW. A lot of them look terrible.
The Shane Taylor Promotions match was solid. It really showed who they were. I hope that they are utilized in AEW and not just ROH. They seem like they could be a hard hitting, menacing team that would add a ton of variety to the AEW tag team division.
The Workhorsemen match was solid as usual. I really would like to see more of them on AEW Dynamite and Rampage.
There was no way that a match between Angelico and Konosuke Takeshika could be bad. The only thing that could’ve made this match better would’ve been if the Spanish Announce Team wasn’t included in it.
This was a fast pace, hard hitting match and Angelico is great. Even though I have seen him a few times before, I never realized how big Konosuke was.
I think that he has the size to be at the top of the company one day. I know that there are many people out there that think that size doesn’t matter in wrestling but if you take yourself out of a fan’s shoes and put yourself in an owner or promoter’s shoes, it does.
I think the announcers said that he is 6’3 and 240 pounds. If he got his body a little more ripped, I wouldn’t blink twice if I saw him main eventing a PPV or being the main champion in AEW.
