Smackdown is WWE’s uncrowned number one show. Friday nights has been wrestling fan’s destination for the most consistent wrestling show on television for close to a year. Here are the top babyfaces on WWE Smackdown.
Charlotte Flair
This position is volatile. Throughout the majority of her career, she has been a heel. I think that even though WWE wanted her to be babyface when she came back, WWE fans made her babyface because they were tired of Ronda Rousey.
As far as her being one of the top babyfaces long term, I think that soon it will be someone else in her place.
At this point in her career, she seems a little out of place as one of the top babyfaces. While making this list, I realized how few top babyfaces Smackdown has as opposed to Raw.
I think that soon, she will go back to her more natural position as a heel. Hopefully, she will get a group of women to help elevate them like one of her fellow horsewomen, Bayley, did with Damage CTRL.
Drew McIntyre/Sheamus
This is kind of cheating but they are one in the same because they are tagging together at the moment.
I think that either Drew or Sheamus and the Brawling Brutes will not be on Smackdown for too long after WrestleMania.
If I had to pick one, I would say it would be Drew McIntyre. While the signs of Sheamus being the top wrestler is starting to slow down, I think that Drew still have a few more World title runs left in his career.
At the moment, some of the biggest pops on Smackdown come when fans know that Sheamus and Drew are coming to beat some ass. I think that both of them are in a position that even if they lost a few matches or feuds here and there, they would easily still be top babyfaces in the company.
Sami Zayn
I think that it is a very reasonable thing to say that Sami is currently the number one babyface in all of wrestling. The storytelling and his involvement with the Bloodline and Roman Reigns has made fans fall in love with him.
When he was in NXT, people commonly thought that Sami Zayn will be the next great underdog top babyface that the fans chose on their own like Daniel Bryant.
When he turned heel, even more of his personality came out and his versatility and range as a talent was shown.
Most wrestlers don’t have one peak as a high level babyface. Sami has had two peaks as the top babyface including is run in NXT.
While I don’t see Sami as the face of the company, I think that he can be the top babyface or even the top champion.
