Fans have reacted to UFC star Nate Marquardt’s alleged homophobic remarks.

According to reports, Nate was not happy after having seen an advert that had shown two men kissing on ESPN+. And as this happened in the presence of his family, he was not best pleased.
That is when things got out of hand as he took things to social media. In his comments, Nate said: “Wow, disgusting commercial watching ESPNPlus with my kids and to tell them to look away so they don’t see two men kissing.”
That did not go down very well for the following reasons. First of all, a certain subset felt that regardless of his views, it was best not to have aired them on social media.
Secondly, members of the LGBTQ community were outraged by Nate’s words. And this was reflected in the comments that followed on social media.
One person wrote: “Easiest Unfollow I’ve had all day. As a follower of Christ…. You’re better than this Nate. Praying for you brother,” while another peron stated: “Imagine if either of your kids has to come out to you one day.. Ffs.”
But rather than back down, Nate continued to press ahead with his beliefs. This mentality is understandable since he was an MMA fighter, who is unlikely to back down in the face of adversity.
And in the process of doing so, he was not put off by the prospect of being canceled, as he remained vocal. His following comments confirmed as much: “[It’s] disgusting, [a] destructive to society.”
His fighting career may be over after having retired in 2021, but outside of the ring, Nate has shown that he will not be silent. But the question remaining is whether this will do damage to his reputation moving forward. Time will tell.
