WWE will be going to court in hopes of combating a lawsuit filed by a Florida man who claims he was hit by a van in late July 2019. The lawsuit, filed by Jackson Parsons claimed that on July 22, 2019 in Tampa, Florida, a van rented by WWE and driven by a WWE employee struck him as he was riding a bike.

It doesn’t look good but it doesn’t appear to be a case that WWE’s legal team couldn’t tackle. However, it gets worse when it’s pointed out that the employee—Gaitan Thomas—was on the clock at the time.
Thomas works for WWE as a props guy and is listed as an independent contractor. The “independent contractor” part will likely be the secret to WWE coming out victorious as the situation as a whole doesn’t bode well for the company.
Parsons filed his lawsuit in June 2021 and had surgery on his ankle. He claims to have experienced “suffered physical injuries, pain-and-suffering, disability and the inability and loss of the capacity to lead and enjoy normal life, inconvenience, disfigurement, scarring, and mental anguish.”
Basically, he’s been combating injuries from the accident and claims that he is losing income because he is unable to work. He states that his medical expenses alone are over $171,000. Parsons also claims that WWE cost him anywhere between $75,000 and $100,000 in income.
Jackson Parsons is seeking $76,500 in pain and suffering, mental anguish, etc and an additional $401,500 for the pain and suffering he’ll experience. WWE and Parsons are scheduled to appear in court on February 27, 2023.
