One of the biggest complaints thrown at All Elite Wrestling, is that talent will be signed – having a few big matches, and then vanish. Many view this as wasting the hype that some wrestlers had on their debut.
However, there are a few reasons why this could happen, especially with international wrestlers. There is the time that it takes to relocate to the United States, Visa Issues, and more – which is what has held Bandido back after his 2022 AEW debut.
Bandido Was Out Of AEW Due To Visa Issues – Set To Return Soon
During the media call for Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor 2023 – Tony Khan was asked about Bandido. Khan would reveal that Bandido was dealing with visa issues – which have now been cleared up.
“Bandido is a great example of an international wrestler that I’ve seen in Ring of Honor and was on All In and is a tremendous talent. He signed with ROH when we started AEW. On ROH, he was the lineal champion. I really like working with him and he’s one of a number of international wrestlers who I really like who have had to renew their visas. It’s nothing nefarious, it’s a process that, when you use international talent, for a company that does the bulk of its business domestically, then you’re going to see visa renewals and you deal with it whether it’s in AEW or English football. I was very excited to get Bandido’s stuff all settled and he’s been a great example of somebody that has a chance to excel in both promotions and internationally.”
Signed To AEW In 2022, Yet To Make A Major Impact
Bandido made his debut against Chris Jericho in 2022, challenging for the ROH World Championship. After that, he was involved in the AEW World Championship Eliminator tournament, making it to the second round by defeating RUSH – before losing to Ethan Page.
His only match for AEW in 2023 was against Bryan Danielson in January – with no matches in the United States coming in February & March.
Getting Bandido back in the mix ahead of Double or Nothing 2023 could lead to him finding a featured role at the event – and showing fans around the world why he is Elite.
