On Saturday 4th March, 2023, Chris Rock addressed the public and unreservedly discussed the contentious slap Will Smith gave him during the Oscars.
Chris Rock Blasts Will Smith’s Oscar Slap-‘This Motherf——‘
Almost a year after the 54-year-old actor gave the 58-year-old comedian a slap on the face while appearing on the Academy Awards stage, the comedian severely criticized him in the concluding moments of his Netflix special “Selective Outrage.”
The comic openly discussed the well-known occurrence, bringing up Suge Knight, the ex-rapper, who accepted a plea of no contest to voluntary manslaughter in 2018 and is now serving a 28-year jail term.
With that being said, he did not hold back at Smith. In his comments, he said: “Everybody knows! Everybody f—— knows! Yes, it happened. I got smacked.
“A year ago, I got slapped at the f—— Oscars by this motherf—— and people are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ear! But I’m not a victim. You will never see me on Oprah or Gayle, crying.”
In the wake of the Oscars scandal, Smith posted an apology on Instagram. Several months later, he uploaded a five-minute-long video to the social media platform to express his sorrow to Rock.
The actor revealed he reached out to Rock to talk about the incident, but claimed the comedian is not ready to sit down with him.
This is understandable, as it appears that Rock is still feeling a little aggrieved about it, or he may seek to milk this incident as much as possible.
His following comments confirmed as much: “F— that s—., I took that hit like Pacquiao motherf—–.” Clearly, Rock does not have any fond memories of the incident. And that should not be a surprise.
