In a curious social media rumor, there’s a possibility that CM Punk dropped a hint that he wants to return to AEW when he’s healthy.
While that may be true, AEW doesn’t seem to be interested at the moment as on last night’s AEW Dynamite (March 22), his face on the production truck was covered when the show opened with the Young Bucks leaving in an ambulance and Adam Page went with them to start the show.
Well, they don’t seem willing to show him on television but they haven’t repainted their production truck, so that does hint at a possible return for Punk.
There have been various reports since Punk initiated a brawl at the All Out Media Scrum that he wants AEW to buy him out and so on.
Now, he reportedly mentioned on social media that he read Steve Keirn’s book and the story that Jerry Lawler brought Kerin and Koko B. Ware together to hash out their problems after a back stage fight.
While that could be Punk’s intent and his way of showing remorse after being so loose lipped, it’s a different scenario according to Dave Meltzer.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer talked about the situation and what makes them different from each other.
Special thanks to wrestlingnews.co for the following transcript.
“He brought up when Steve Kerin was in Memphis, he got into a fight with Koko Ware and he said that Lawler sat them down and that was it. It appears that he was trying to say that in wrestling in the past there’s fights. That situation was completely different…”
He went on to read between the lines of what Punk is saying:
“What it says is that he wants back in. Which we’ve already known, other people have said that too, that he’s looking to get back in. It’s up to Tony (Khan) and Tony’s gonna make a decision at some point. He’s probably just about ready, if not ready already, from the torn triceps, so it is one of those things that he can do soon enough. It’s a tough decision.
“Every situation is different and it’s a decision that Tony’s going to have to make, but people who are like you want him back.”
One thing that’s consistent in pro wrestling is the practice of never saying never, and we’re looking forward to what kind of decision Tony Kahn will make about Punk’s future with the company.
Will Punk come back or is it wishful thinking? Let us know in the comments below.
