Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas always has some interesting observations on the week of wrestling and once again, something about the booking of women’s booking is amiss. In a recent Reffin Rant post, Korderas said that the storyline involving Asuka challenging for Bianca Belair for the WWE Raw Women’s title just doesn’t wow him.
“No Gravitas” to the Bianca Belair vs Asuka Storyline Leading into WrestleMania 39 Says Former WWE Ref Jimmy Korderas
As we know, the Road to WrestleMania is important in clenching attention for the bouts at the big stage. With some interesting build even matches that just didn’t wow on paper can entice some into giving the match a shot or even investing into the story.
Korderas feels that the build-up for Bianca Belair versus Asuka lacks that “oomph”. He would point out that he wanted to see the match itself because of who is involved but he needs some incentive. That incentive is an engaging story to warrant the match at WrestleMania 39 in the first place:
“I want to see the match because of the women involved, but at the same time, I also want to see a match where there’s a story. There’s no gravitas. It’s just, ‘Hey, here’s two talented women going out there, they’re going to have a heck of a match.’ That’s fine, but in the world of pro wrestling you need a story and a build toward WrestleMania.” (h/t: Wrestling Inc)

In today's #ReffinRant as much as I believe a certain match at Mania with deliver, the build to this match has not IMO. Give me reasons to want to see it. 🤔 #StaySafe pic.twitter.com/IiWKmOekB2
