During official royal engagements, Prince William and Kate Middleton refrain from exhibiting any public displays of affection.
Prince William And Kate Middleton’s Nicknames Exposed-‘Babykins, Babe, Duchess Of Doolittle’
However, in private, they share similar emotions and behaviors as the rest of us. That is according to royal author Tom Quinn in his book ‘Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family.’
According to a source who was previously employed at the palace and acquainted with Princess Diana, Middleton, who is 41 years old, allegedly uses the term “babe” to refer to her husband William, who is 40 years old.
In return, William reportedly refers to Middleton as the “Duchess of Doolittle.” As per reports, William has been known to refer to his spouse using endearing nicknames such as “Babykins” and “DoD,” which is a shortened version of “Duchess of Doolittle.”
The nickname “Duchess of Doolittle” is a playful tease, stemming from Queen Elizabeth II’s past criticism of Middleton for not having a full-time profession before their marriage in 2011.
In his comments, he said: “But it’s not all sweetness. They have terrible rows where they throw things at each other. Kate might seem to be a very calm person, and William also.
“But it’s not always true. Because the big stress for William and Kate is that they’re constantly surrounded by [palace aides]. It’s like a Jane Austen novel.”
During a 2007 interview with NBC, William acknowledged that his mother, Princess Diana, used to refer to him as “Wombat,” a name that he still goes by today. Despite their occasional disagreements, the couple also have moments of intimacy and closeness.
This would only go on to reinforce the idea that the couple have managed to overcome any obstacles, as shown by the fact that they have been married for over a decade with three children.
