Recently, we would see the return of Shawn Spears to the ring in AEW. He had taken some time off due to the passing of his mother, with Tony Khan giving him as much time as he needed before making his return. Spears has already returned to the ring against Jack Perry, and started a new feud. However – neither are his ideal dream match.
Shawn Spears Feels Wardlow Has Untapped Potential, Wants To Bring It Out In 20 Minute Epic
While speaking with Chris Van Vliet – Shawn Spears would be asked what his dream match in AEW is. Spears would respond with the following, wanting to help boost Wardlow to the next level.
“There’s no one’s, this doesn’t mean I don’t want to wrestle anybody. But I’ve had, I’ve wrestled almost everybody I’ve set out to wrestle in my career in some way, shape, or form, whether it be a live event when the cameras are off or on tour somewhere in some city that people have forgotten about or whatnot. I’ve been very lucky, very fortunate to wrestle a lot of people that I set out to wrestle. There’s no one that really jumps out at me. Because there’s still a lot of things, I would like to do in AEW. But I had a blast wrestling as many people as I did there so far.
Maybe Wardlow. I think Wardlow in a one-on-one singles, give us about 20 minutes and just let us wrestle, no cage, you know, even a cool, I’ll take a cold match with Wardlow. Let’s do it on a Dynamite, Rampage, can be 20 minutes, and let us just go, because that guy is still untapped. In my opinion, he’s very untapped. He’s been decorated. He’s a two-time TNT champion and stuff like that. But you’ve seen a little bit of his athleticism, but he’s still untapped on what he can do. I think I can pull it out of him. He is massive, sweetheart of a man, incredible talent, incredible human being,”
Is Shawn Spears Working With Jay White In Secret?
Right now, Shawn Spears is set to join the fight against the newest faction in AEW – Bullet Club Gold. He would heckle Jay White during his recent match against Komander, getting beaten down after the bell. Ricky Starks would come to the aid of Spears, starting a potential alliance.
It seems clear that a tag team encounter is incoming, with some suspecting that Spears could be working alongside Jay White & Juice Robinson, being part of a plot to get the jump on Starks once again. This would be a fun story twist – but something we will need to wait and see.
