Since Vince McMahon forced his return to the WWE, more news has been coming out nearly every day, and now that the WWE has been bought by Endeavor even more is coming out.
One of the interesting pieces that was recently released has to do with Vince McMahon’s employment contract.
Vince McMahon’s Two Year Employment Contract Includes a Code of Conduct and No Harassment Clause
As reported in an SEW filing, McMahon became an employee after he was awarded stock with a market value of $4.7 million and he’s currently the controlling shareholder of the WWE.
The agreement has him as Executive Chairman for two years from the start date of January 9, 2023, but there are conditions in place that are believed to be in response to his paying hush money and alleged sexual misconduct allegations.
According to the wrestlingnews.co, his continued employment is dependent of a him following WWE’s “Conflict of Interest and Code of Conduct” as well as the company’s “Equal Opportunity and Non-Harassment Policy”.
In short, it sounds like his actions that had everyone walking on egg shells are a thing of the past as it gives power to the employees to report him and hold him accountable for his actions.
Not quite in power
While McMahon may have brokered a deal, there’s every indication that his power is far more limited than it was with this news.
In general, he has bosses to report to now, and if they’re not happy with the product the WWE is putting out or fan reaction is bad, he’s going to hear it and shrugging it off won’t be an option.
As we mentioned above, we think this stems from the allegations that forced him to step down and retire from WWE this past summer, and Endeavor won’t want to risk more of the same.
While it was reported that virtually no one except McMahon wanted him to return to the WWE, both McMahon and Endeavor CEO Ari Emanual has said he was the one that wanted McMahon to stay on once the sale was made and that makes sense.
They did the same thing with the UFC and Dana White since White knows the business and UFC has continued to make the company a profit.
It’ll be interesting to see how long McMahon will stay on and how successful he’ll be after the debacle Raw After WrestleMania was, as it could mean he’ll have to delegate more power and be more hands off than he’s used to being.
