We’re just a few months away from one of the biggest wrestling events of the year. All Elite Wrestling are running the iconic Wembley Stadium in the UK later this year, already having sold over 60,000 tickets.
It’s the first time a major wrestling event has been held at the venue since Summerslam ‘92. Because of this, many want to be part of the event, especially those who made their name in the UK like Will Ospreay. One name who will be on the outside looking in however, is current WWE superstar Drew McIntyre.
Drew McIntyre Likely To Be Under WWE Contract Until 2024
Right now, McIntyre is off WWE programming following a WrestleMania 39 loss, as he faced GUNTHER & Sheamus for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Rumours of creative burnout and not being offered the right amount of money have followed, signalling a potential exit from McIntyre.
With All In set to take the UK by storm, the Scottish born star is someone fans were hoping to see at the show – but this is likely impossible. Dave Meltzer would publish the following in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter about McIntyre.
“Regarding McIntyre and the idea he could be at All In, there is basically almost no chance of that. His contract expires months after that date so even if he were to leave WWE when the deal expires (a big if) and goes to AEW (which would be the most likely destination if he were to leave), that can’t happen until 2024. Also, WWE is likely to tack on all of this current period when he’s been out of action with an injury that would move the end of his deal back.”
This is simply something fans should not expect on this show. McIntyre joining AEW in the event of a WWE exit is fairly likely, but until 2024 – Tony Khan will be unable to make a contract offer. WWE also has many months to continue negotiations with McIntyre, and a potential deal could be met in time.
