Following the 2023 WWE Draft – we’re ready for a fresh era in WWE. One major thing that is bringing fans back into the mix, is the creation of a brand new championship.
Due to Roman Reigns being earmarked to create new history in WWE with his reign as WWE Universal Champion – the WWE World Heavyweight Championship would be announced. This is going to be the top championship of Monday Night RAW, and L.W.O member Santos Escobar wants to be the one to make history.
Santos Escobar Is Eyeing The Top Prizes Of WWE
While speaking with Under The Ring, Santos Escobar would say that he is ready to reach a main event level in WWE – and is eyeing the new belt introduced by Triple H.
“I just saw Triple H announce a new championship. I feel ready for that. That’s how high my note is right now.”
There is a hang up with Escobar’s plans, having been drafted to Smackdown Live – where Roman Reigns rules the main event scene. He will be unlikely to have involvement in the tournament to crown a new champion – but Money in The Bank gives him a chance to jump brands and target whoever leaves Night of Champions with that new belt.
A Lifelong Fan Of Rey Mysterio
In the same interview, Escobar was asked about his partnership with Rey Mysterio – and admitted he’s been a lifelong fan of the lucha libre legend. Escobar had the following to say about the former WWE Champion.
“Well, he’s a Lucha Libre icon. He’s a Lucha Libre legend. He’s literally a Hall of Famer. I first met Rey when I was about eight or nine years old. That was a long time ago. The story is known. My dad told me, ‘You see that kid right there? That’s Rey Mysterio. He’s gonna go places.He’s going to do something in the industry’, and that was it. My dad wasn’t lying. Rey became everything he said and even more, now a Hall of Famer. For me to be in the ring with him, to be in a faction with him, LWO, it’s just a dream come true. I feel very happy, motivated, and ready to go and just keep growing.”
