At the 2020 Royal Rumble, WWE fans got a major shock when Edge would make his return to the ring. Retired years prior due to major injuries, every match that fans have gotten with Edge is just a bonus to his legendary career.
Already given his spot in the WWE Hall Of Fame, Edge has little to accomplish in the company – and with his retirement looming, there are some like Matt Hardy who wonder if that final match will come as part of the WWE roster.
Matt Hardy Wonders If Edge Will Finish His Career In WWE
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy was asked about the current run of Edge – and had the following to say about his old rival.
“I think he’s had a good last run. I’m glad he did get to come back and he was able to recover from that very serious injury, which he had to leave for, for many years. He’s been in great shape, he’s looked good. I thought he’s really produced some quality content, and I like the process, now he’s been helping younger guys too. I feel like he’s kind of in a roll where I’m at too, where he kind of helps build the next generation as well in some ways. I think it would be very feasible for him to actually have his final match outside of WWE. I think that’s something that is possible. It may not. I mean, he may just finish there. I could see him being a guy that was committed. If he says it is his last match, I don’t think he’s going to do like Ric Flair and have five or six last matches, but I could see him finishing up with WWE and maybe having his final few matches somewhere else,”
In addition to Matt Hardy, other names closely associated with Edge in All Elite Wrestling include Christian Cage & Jeff Hardy. The last time Edge wrestled outside of WWE was in 2000 for the Heartland Wrestling Association.
