Right now, we’re seeing a feud between MJF & Adam Cole at the top of All Elite Wrestling. MJF is the reigning AEW World Champion, and Cole is nicely set up to be a future challenger for this belt.
Their first match together came on a recent episode of Dynamite, ending in a time limit draw – MJF being saved by the bell. However, it is their promos with each other that have gotten the bulk of the praise from fans – and those are something that Cole was looking forward too.
Adam Cole Praises MJF In AEW – Was Nervous To Battle Him On The Microphone
While appearing on the Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy podcast, Cole would explain that he was excited to join MJF on the microphone – and viewed it as a sink of swim moment for himself. Cole had the following to say about MJF.
“There was a lot of excitement going into this. I don’t know if intimidation is the right word, but it very much felt like a sink or swim type of situation for me, which was really exciting. I’m going to go toe to toe with what many consider, what I consider, one of the best talkers and one of the best guys of the generation in MJF. Either people are going to think I can hang with him or they’re going to think that he ate me alive. I love that feeling of going out there and feeling, ‘Oh God, we’ll see how this goes.’ It was really exciting for me to be tested in that way and to show everybody that I’ll go toe to toe with anybody on the microphone. It was exciting, but I definitely had nerves and butterflies.”
Right now, Cole is trying to get MJF to agree to a rematch, and goaded him into accepting a title defence against Hiroshi Tanahashi for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
They are also linked as a blind draw tag team, entering a tournament for a chance to become the AEW World Tag Team Champions. Due to this, we can expect them to spend more screen time together – meaning more promos to come.
