The long awaited return of CM Punk to AEW has finally happened – an event nine months in the making. His issues with The Elite would make things uncertain, but when AEW Collision was announced – Punk would have his chance to return.
Tonight in Chicago, he’s back infront of this people, with a live microphone in hand, a red bag in the other, shoes hung around his neck and lot’s to get off his chest.
CM Punk Claims The King Is Back
Punk would say that he is tired of being nice. Gone ten months with a torn tricep, Punk is ready to be back. Professional wrestling is a game of grown ups, it has never been a popularity contest.
Punk would speak on his past, and how he wouldn’t believe that he would sell out arenas all around the world, because past Punk doesn’t have the experience he has now.
He rode a wave of smart, passionate professional wrestling fans to the top – and has never belonged somewhere more than he belongs in professional wrestling.
Punk has been unapologetic his entire career, and couldn’t do things any other way. He will never change his ways, even if his presence can make some others uncomfortable.
The Chicago crowd would start a ‘F*ck the Elite’ as Punk tried to hide a smile. He doesn’t care what fans call him, if they cheer or boo him – because that doesn’t matter so long as they know he’s telling the truth. Punk is the genuine article in an industry full of counterfeit Bucks.
The King is back – and he has a lot to get off his chest. There are some people who think they are owed an apology, and the fans in the arena who think they deserve an apology?
The only people softer than them is the wrestlers they cheer for. Punk last held the AEW World Championship above his head because he earned it, and in the red bag is what he earned.
That belongs to him, until someone can pin or submit him for it. For those who who wanted him to retire, that wont’t happen until someone can fill his boots.
Wardlow Faces Someone Else His Own Size
Wardow is fresh off a title defense against Jake Hager this past Wednesday on AEW Dynamite – but his week is far from over. Following this match, it would be revealed that Christian Cage & Luchasaurus had attacked his manager, Arn Anderson.
Wardlow was then challenged to a title defense against Luchasaurus – and being a fighting champion, he’d gladly accept this challenge.
These two heavyweights would trade shoulder tackles before Wardlow hit a picture perfect dropkick. Luchasaurus would roll to the floor, where he got council from Cage – who would lure Wardlow away before hiding under the ring.
Wardlow would shove Luchasaurus into the ring, and Cage would emerge to distract again, allowing a boot to the face of the champion.
Wardlow would be run into the steel steps, before Luchasaurus would fit a heavy chop to the chest in the ring. Luchasaurus would keep the damage coming with a superkick, before a bodyslam and a neck crank.
Wardlow would fight back to his feet, only for Luchasaurus to beat him right back down. The champion refused to give in – even after a backdrop sent him crashing into the mat.
New TNT Champion Is Crowned Thanks To Christian Cage
A neck crank was applied again, with Wardlow lifting Luchasaurus into an Electric Chair hold and dropping him hard. Some heavy lariats would follow, with Wardlow driving Luchasaurus into the corner with a spear. Luchasaurus would be lifted into a Spinebuster, before Wardlow went to the top rope and was ready to fly.
The TNT Champion would be stopped and thrown to the mat with a one armed chokeslam, getting a near fall. Wardlow would bite the hand of Luchasaurus to avoid a chokeslam, before the Wind Up Lariat landed. The Powerbomb Symphony would be signalled – but Christian Cage would try to stop it.
Wardlow ignored this and hit the first powerbomb. Cage hid on the floor with a chair, but didn’t want to get Luchasaurus disqualified.
Instead, he managed to distract Wardlow long enough for Luchasaurus to hit a chokeslam. Wardlow was able to recover and hit a Deadlift Powerslam, before a Swanton Bomb off the top rope.
Luchasaurus would distract the referee as Wardlow went up top again, and Cage smashed a camera over the head of Wardlow. The pinfall would follow – and we have our 19th TNT Champion, Luchasaurus.
