Something that irritates a segment of wrestling fans is the moments when AEW just doesn’t appear to be in WWE’s league. These moments are often caught by the cameras and seem to take away something from either the character or the storyline. Enter Jon Moxley as this week’s AEW target.
AEW Star Jon Moxley is Getting Flak for Chatting with The Young Bucks Ringside During Feud Confrontation
Currently, Moxley and the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club are in a feud with The Elite. The segment in question featured a brawl between the two sides and Eddie Kingston who was attacking BCC member and ROH World Champion Claudio when the moment was captured.
Outside of the ring in the background of the in-ring beating, you can see Jon Moxley say something to the Young Bucks before leaving. Twitter user @SlappadaBRO_WWE posted video of the incident and the discourse began.
Why was Moxley having a convo with the Young Bucks in the background in the middle of a brawl in front of the camera 😭🤣 #AEWDynamite pic.twitter.com/at4iRsDyZ8

Obviously, it doesn’t look good when kayfabe and being able to relay what’s next without the fans’ knowledge is an art within the art. In the video we see that Moxley does this in front of fans which is really made worse as the camera caught the moment. Without the footage, we’d likely just have front row accounts.
As the Botchamania series has shown, oftentimes the camera work can be a wrestler’s worst enemy depending on what’s going on. It’s never intentional but it does tend to happen at the worst moments and tends to take the piss out of a spot or segment because seeing how a magic trick is performed takes a bit of the magic out of it. You’re just watching to see it done at a certain point.
A few fans came said that this wasn’t as big of an issue as some are making it out to be. To a degree those fans are correct mainly because kayfabe isn’t strongly adhered to in modern wrestling. It has been embraced as a performance art which seems to no longer need the smoke and mirrors and code to make things work as fans have become hip to the business.
Of course, detractors weren’t hearing that as this isn’t the first time Jon Moxley has done something that made the anti-AEW side scratch their heads. We can’t forget the screwdriver attack by Moxley where he adjusted the screwdriver in front of everyone before attacking with it.
What do you think of this? Was Moxley being unprofessional? Is this a continuation of the former AEW World Champion just not caring? Or is this just an overblown moment? Let us know down below.
