‘The Young and the Restless’ Star, Robert Newman Turns 65
Robert Newman was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 27, 1958. After he graduated from California State University at Northridge, the actor traveled to Michigan, where he worked at several summer stock productions.
He went on a trip to New York to, where he secured an employment on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light, where he played the role of a bad boy-turned-hero, Joshua Lewis.
While this role earned him copious praise, his pairing opposite Kim Zimmer’s Reva Shayne made him a household name. He featured on Guiding Lights from his 1981 debut to the final episode.
In between one of the actors numerous lengthy stints – 1981 – 1984, 1986-91, 1993-2009 – he featured in episodes of ‘General Hospital’, where he played the role of Prescott Harrell, and Santa Barbara, as Kirk Cranston, as well as the psychotic spoiler in Cruz/Eden coupling. Newman made his ‘Young and the Restless’ debut on February 9, 2022.
Newman’s acting credits did not end with daytime. He also made guest spots on series such as Criminal Minds, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Homeland, Inventing Anna, NCIS, House of Cards, and Joe vs. Carol. The actor has also starred in films like Raunch and Roll, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Dracano.
He also played theatre roles: Hairspray, Kiss Me Kate, Noises Off, Fiddler on the Roof, Man of La Mancha, Love Letters, and a trio of works that reunited him with GL co-star Zimmer — Gypsy, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf, and The Lion in Winter.
In September 27, 1986, Newman tied the knot with Britt Helfer, a retired actress. The couple have two children: Connor and Kendal. They are also doting grandparents to Connor’s children, Leo and Rocky.
