At the end of NJPW Sakura Genesis 2023, fans would be shocked by the return of Yota Tsuji. Having left Japan in 2021 for an excursion, Tsuji would spend time in Mexico with CMLL and the UK with Rev Pro – he has improved immensely.

No longer a young lion, Tsuji took aim at the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, SANADA. Having recently left Los Ingobernables De Japon to join Just 5 Guys – SANADA has some lingering issues with L.I.J, and Tsuji has filled SANADA’s spot in his old faction.

Yota Tsuji Joins Los Ingobernables De Japón

During the press conference for NJPW Dominion 2023, where Tsuji will meet SANADA in the main event – it would be made official that Tsuji was joining the faction. A summary from NJPW themselves shares the following information.

Another question from the press concerning Tsuji indicating that he would be part of Los Ingobernables De Japon would be batted away by the challenger, but when he and SANADA got ready for their photo session, Tetsuya Naito made a surprise appearance to huge cheers. When Naito asked Tsuji whether his chest bump in Fukuoka meant that he wanted to join LIJ, Tsuji responded in the affirmative. ‘I will be fighting in Japan from here on, and I want to do it in Los Ingobernables De Japon but are you ready? Because I plan on bringing LIJ and New Japan Pro-Wrestling to new heights.’

This puts Los Ingobernables back to six members. On the heavyweight side, there is Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi, and now Yuta Tsuji.

Meanwhile on the junior heavyweight side, there is the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi, BUSHI, and Titan. Tsuji is expected to begin as the lowest ranked of the heavyweights, but given his age? He will potentially rise to the top of the faction very soon.

It’s expected that Tsuji will lose at Dominion, with SANADA remaining champion through the upcoming G1 Climax. Naito is a current favourite to win the tournament.

Doing so will see him challenge SANADA at Wrestle Kingdom 18 potentially finally winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in the process.
