Toni Storm is really proving herself as one of the toughest champions in the history of the AEW Women’s World Championship since taking it back from Jamie Hayter.

Tonight, she’s been given a few hours to prepare for one of the best from Canada in Taya Valkyrie. Valkyrie has gotten a bad hand since joining the roster, losing several matches over the TBS Championship, including the match that enabled Kris Statlander to win the belt. Tonight, she can finally claim gold – and do it in her hometown.

Toni Storm Shuts Down The Hometown Hero – A Storm Almost Shuts Down The Show

Ruby Soho was in the corner of Storm tonight, still sour from her loss to Willow Nightingale earlier tonight. Storm would rush Valkyrie into the corner with some strikes, but Valkyrie came back twice as hard with some hard strikes.

Valkyrie would wait as Storm took a break on the outside, before being lured to the floor and thrown by her hair around the ringside area.

Storm would get thrown herself, but was the first into the ring – allowing her to nail Valkyrie with a running hip attack. Valkyrie would be choked in the corner of the ring with a boot to the throat, before being thrown across the ring. A snap suplex got a two count – before Storm applied the Full Nelson on the mat.

Valkyrie broke free, only to take a cheap shot from Soho. Storm would lose control and take a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall before taking a running hip attack from Valkyrie.

A Storm would interrupt the video feed, with Toni Storm getting the win to remain champion. We can expect a rematch – letting these two get a proper finish to their match.

Shawn Spears Finally Gets Title Shot

Since winning the TNT Championship, Luchasaurus has been standing in the back while Christian Cage handles the talking. However tonight, it’s time for him to fight – as he faces Canada’s own Shawn Spears.

The Chairman of AEW is back, and has his first championship match in the company – something which has been a goal of his since 2019.

Cage came out wearing the title belt, freeing up Luchasaurus from the burden of carrying the belt around. Watching from the back was 2x TNT Champion Scorpio Sky – eyeing the belt closely. Spears would rush at Luchasaurus as the match began, but was sent to the floor with ease.

A slingshot attempt was blocked with a big throat thrust – before Spears was beaten into the corner. Cage would distract Spears as he gained a slight advantage, allowing Luchasaurus to regain control with a stiff kick to the ribs. Spears was choked before being sent face first into the mat – before Luchasaurus applied a neck crank.

Christian Cage Holds The TNT Championship High

Spears would avoid a splash in the corner before hitting some strikes to the champion, but was unable to take him off his feet. Luchasaurus was sent to the floor with a lariat, and had his head sandwiched between the boot of spears and the ring post.

Spears would go after Cage briefly, only to run into a chokeslam by Luchasaurus through a table. He’d be pulled to the ring, and would get a roll up for a two count. Luchasaurus would follow up with a chokeslam, but only got a two count.

Cage would set up a chair in the corner of the ring, with Luchasaurus trying to throw Spears into it. Instead, Spears would take advantage and got a near fall. C4 Driver was blocked, and Luchasaurus would win with a big lariat – keeping his reign intact.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
