Kris Statlander has been a fighting champion since winning the TBS Championship back at Double or Nothing, and that continues tonight.
Having already defeated Nyla Rose, Anna Jay, and Taya Valkyrie – Statlander has proved her title victory was no fluke, but Lady Frost is more hungry than anyone Statlander has faced since making her return. Having left Impact Wrestling for bigger things, Frost has a chance to show she was right to bet on herself in a major way tonight.
Kris Statlander Earns Another TBS Championship Title Defense
Frost would be thrown to the mat as she tried to lock up with Statlander, who applied a front headlock on the mat. She was able to break free and tried to show her athletic skills – only to be dropped with a simple lariat. Statlander would flaunt her power with a hammer throw into the corner – and kept the pressure on Frost.
Frost would block a powerslam with a tornado DDT, before hitting a big kick to the face of Statlander. Heading to the top rope, Frost was able to jump over Statlander before trying for the Chiller Driller. Statlander would fight free and hit a big lariat before the Saturday Night Fever for the victory.
Samoa Joe & Roderick Strong Are Some Of The Best Of Their Generation
When fans think of Ring of Honor, many names come to mind – but two of the best to come from that company are Roderick Strong & Samoa Joe. Both men have won championships all around the world and have worked to develop a hard hitting style.
Tonight, they share the ring once again in the Owen Hart Memorial Cup. Whoever can win will go on to face CM Punk – who defeated Satoshi Kojima earlier this week at Forbidden Door.
Neither man would rush to get this match started – with Joe able to shove Strong into the corner on the opening lock up. Joe would miss a chop and take some of the chest splitting strikes of Strong, but came back with a big elbow strike which floored Strong. Strong & Joe would roll to the floor and trade more strikes, but got back into the ring without much fuss from the referee.
Joe would have some issues fitting the faster Strong, but one big strike would topple him – making the effort worth it. Having an opening in the corner, Joe would fire in a flurry of jabs and chops before slamming Strong down for a near fall. A neck crank would be applied, but Strong was able to fight free.
Strong Gets Choked Out By Joe – Match With Punk Coming Soon
A jumping knee from Strong would land flush, but only got a two count. Joe would respond with a big boot and jumping senton before getting another neck crank applied, and tossing Strong away after realising he won’t tap out. Another senton was attempted, but Strong was able to avoid this before hitting some running lariats.
Strong would get Joe up for a pendulum backbreaker, and followed up with the Sick Kick for a near fall. Olympic Slam followed by a jumping knee would follow.
End Of Heartache would be easily blocked, before the rear naked choke would be applied. Unable to remain protect himself, Strong would be protected by the referee with a referee stoppage.
Punk & Joe would lock eyes – set to face next Saturday on Collision. Sending a message, Joe would hit an Emerald Flowsion onto a steel chair – doing more damage to Strong. Punk is fired up, and needs to do something he’s never done – and defeat Joe.
