We recently saw Sasha Banks & Naomi exit WWE – choosing to bet on themselves succeeding outside of the company. Naomi would land in Impact Wrestling as Trinity, helping bring in viewers in the process – but having little championship impact so far. Banks meanwhile would head to Japan, wrestling with Stardom & New Japan Pro Wrestling.
She would fit perfectly into the fast paced and hard hitting style, already being a former IWGP Women’s World Champion. One friend who’s been watching Mone in Japan is Bayley – who acknowledges that the style would be too rough for her to join Mone.
Bayley Feels The Japanese Style In Japan Is Too Intense For Her, But Perfect For Mercedes Mone
During an interview with Inside The Ropes, Bayley would be asked about Mone’s success in Japan. As an additional question, she would be asked if she intends to join Mone over in Japan at some point – to which Bayley had the following response.
“I think what she’s doing is incredible, but I don’t know if I’d be able to do it. That Japanese style is intense. I’m a little too old for that. She can go ahead and do all that. She’s braver than I am. She’s way more athletic than I am. So she can do all that stuff, and I’ll support her the whole time. If something were to happen and I was able to go experience different things like that, we’ll see. But right now, my body will say no.”
Bayley is still under contract with WWE, having recently been part of the Money in The Bank ladder match. During that match, she would betray Damage CTRL factionmate and eventual winner of the match, Iyo Sky. This sets Bayley up to feud with one of the biggest names in WWE to come from Japan, giving her a trial run of the hard hitting style that Mone faces
Right now, Mone is rehabbing from an ankle injury suffered in a match with Willow Nightingale over the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. She’s expected to return soon to battle Nightingale in a rematch. This injury changed plans for Mone making her AEW debut at Forbidden Door.
