At the end of WWE Extreme Rules 2022, fans would see the return of Bray Wyatt. Released from the company after WrestleMania 37, the future of Wyatt in professional wrestling would be heavily speculated about.
However, he would return to form – weaving a storyline with the mysterious Uncle Howdy, and returned to the ring at the 2023 Royal Rumble for a ‘Pitch Black’ match with LA Knight. After this, Wyatt would tease more matches before vanishing from TV – and is hoping to be back soon.
Bray Wyatt Is Awaiting Clearance To Return To The Ring
A report from a higher up within WWE would state the following about the status of Bray Wyatt.
“Wyatt is still sidelined and not cleared for action. We’re told that he’s still awaiting clearance and hopeful for a return whenever that occurs.”
Back in March, it was noted that Wyatt was sidelined due to an illness. He was planned to wrestle Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 39, with plans being scrapped at the last minute – leaving Lashley without a match for WrestleMania.
There is little doubt that once Wyatt returns, he will continue the planned storyline with Uncle Howdy. Alexa Bliss is also teased to be rejoining Wyatt upon his return, returning to her character from 2020.
The Return Can Be Turned Around If Wyatt’s Ideas Find More Focus
As it stands, the return of Bray Wyatt has been a let down – but WWE has a chance to pull things back together when he is cleared. We might not see him return to the heights that The Fiend reached, but Wyatt is a creative powerhouse – his ideas sometimes just don’t translate cleanly to the ring.
This time away might have given both him and WWE a chance to tweak his recent character and storyline ideas. We already know the identity of Uncle Howdy, that being the brother of Wyatt and former NXT Champion Bo Dallas. Dallas has not been unmasked on TV, but has been seen backstage at WWE events.
