LA Knight has taken the WWE Universe by storm and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.
He’s found his way to being one of the top talents in the WWE after fighting against bad booking, gimmicks, ageism, and more.
His biggest opportunity is coming with Money in the Bank where he’ll have a chance to win the briefcase and challenge for the mid card or world title, and fans are hoping he’ll challenge for the world title.
He was the favorite to win until Logan Paul was added to the match, and it appeared the WWE was building a feud between them, but as always nothing in the WWE is guaranteed.
In a recent interview on the “Cheap Heat” podcast Knight spoke about his Mount Rushmore of wrestlers and being compared to the Rock and Steve Austin.
Molding his image
Knight’s been taking some heat from fans for imitating the Rock, but it’s part of the bigger picture just like Hulk Hogan and Jessie Ventura borrowing from “Superstar” Billy Graham.
When the topic came up on being compared to them, he said he’s happy to be Kobe Bryant to their Michael Jordan. Special thanks to ewrestlingnews.com for the transcript.
“If you want to make that comparison, cool. My aim is to be bigger and better than either of them. I bring a very different package to the table than they do. At the same time, are there similarities? Sure there are you. There is Kobe (Bryan) to (Michael) Jordan, those kind of comparisons. If you want to make me the Kobe to their Jordan, I’ll take it.”
As their discussion continued, the topic came to his Mount Rushmore of wrestlers, and it’s a list that’s full of the top names in the business’ history.
“There is a four-way tie. (Hulk) Hogan started it all for me. Even Hollywood and the NWO, good stuff. Him, (Ric) Flair, Austin, Rock, I could not pick a top.”
Knight also talked about how he not only wants to be the world champion, but also to be “the guy” to fans.
“Now, what would I like to be? I wanna be the guy who’s at the top of this deal,” Knight said. “I wanna be the guy who is running around with that Universal Championship, the World Heavyweight Championship, whatever it is, to the point where people are like, ‘All right, that’s the guy. All right, that’s the guy who also now we’re gonna consider is he one of the best of all time? I don’t know.’ And maybe that’s ambitious, and people look at me, and be like, ‘Oh, this guy’s out of his mind. He thinks he’s that good.’ Yeah, I do. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be doing this.”
Everything is lining him up for being the world champion and giving us a fun run while the next generation continues to develop, but will the WWE pull the trigger and rocket him to the top?
