The Judgment Day faction has seen a lot of success on WWE television. Currently, the faction holds the Women’s World title and the NXT North American title, a pocketed title shot, but flubbed an opportunity at the WWE World Heavyweight title at SummerSlam.
While Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley have been the breakout stars of the faction, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has leader Finn Balor as the member who impressed him the most.
Booker T is Very Impressed with Finn Balor and His Run with The Judgment Day
Prior to joining The Judgment Day, Balor was off television for a few months following a run with the IC title. He was sent to NXT for a year and a half before returning to the main roster as part of the SmackDown brand.
His late 2021 run saw him make the finals of the King of the Ring tournament but lose to Xavier Woods at Crown Jewel. In early 2022, Finn Balor defeated future Judgment Day member Damian Priest for the U.S title.
By June of that year he was the leader of The Judgment Day having kicked out former leader Edge who had just announced Balor as a new member. It is his run with the faction and how he facilitates his members’ goals without the stable becoming all about the leader.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T praised Finn Balor’s work and being at his best in WWE since turning heel:
“Finn has been doing his best work since coming to the WWE, since joining The Judgment Day. I’m talking about The Demon and all that other stuff that he did before joining Judgment Day — this is the best version of Finn Balor that we’ve seen in the WWE.” (h/t: Wrestling Inc)
Balor’s career in WWE has seen several starts and stops because of injury or creative. Perhaps this run with The Judgment Day will show The Demon not only at the top of his game but on a major title stage—similar to his period as Universal champion.
Do you agree that this is the best version of Finn Balor in WWE? If not, what was your favorite era of Balor in the promotion? What do you believe is next for Balor as a singles competitor?
