It broke ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) Spoilers heart when we heard about John Aniston passing away nine months ago. He was a true legend as Victor Kiriakis between his presence, one liners, and quick wit and is arguably the best “Victor” on day time television.
Because of their shooting schedule of shooting seven months ahead, it’s taken them longer than usual to write Victor off the show, and that’s a rough topic for many fans.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Weekly Spoilers – Saying Goodbye to Victor Kiriakis
As much as everything was prerecorded, they did do a cool brief tribute to him after shortly after John’s death, but we would’ve liked them to play a couple of old classics with him or a full special of his career highlights.
We doubt fans would’ve minded having something special like that replace a standard episode, but they chose to let everything play out and take care of it in pure storyline fashion.
There’s nothing wrong with that, but as we said it can be hit or miss with fans.
That won’t take away from the impact Victor’s demise will have on his family and fans, and now we get to grieve together as the Kiriakis clan deals with the news of his death in a plane crash.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Breaking the news
It’s going to be Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth)’s unfortunate job to relay the further news of what happened to Victor’s plane when he learns about it, and we expect the first one he’ll tell is Maggie Horton (Suzanne Rogers).
Victor’s death will crush them, but it’ll also bring the family together as it looks like even Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) will share an emotional embrace.
Out of all of them “Days of Our Lives” Spoilers thinks Xander will be the hardest hit since he was looking forward to burying the hatchet with Victor, and now he’ll have to deal with never smoothing things over with him.
It’ll add even more depth to his character as he continues to grow, and we’re curious if Xander will work even harder and straightening out or will this push him into his dark habits?
But more than storyline progression, we’ll see a lot of in character tributes to Victor as well as flashbacks to some of his better moments.
This will be a good week’s worth of episodes while also painful, but we’re looking forward to it. It looks like Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) is going to have someone to play chess with as the old rivals and friends will be reunited.
