Kenny Omega being betrayed by Don Callis was a changing point in his career. Over the past few years, Callis was the biggest supporter of Omega – motivating him to the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and playing a crucial role in him becoming AEW World Heavyweight Champion.
But Omega chose The Young Bucks over Callis, and that was a mistake. Now, Callis has a new protege in Konosuke Takeshita – and having shared every detail of Omega’s injury history, Takeshita has a chance to take out Omega for good tonight.
The Best Bout Machine Arrives In Chicago
Omega & Takeshita would trade wrist locks as the match began, before Takeshita would rake the eyes. A jumping knee was blocked by Omega, before the early attempt at a Dragon Suplex. Takeshita would block and hit a High Angle Backdrop, Omega landing on his neck.
Omega would roll to the floor, with Takeshita following. The rolling fireman’s carry would follow, with Omega looking wobbly – but completing the moonsault off the barricade. Omega would hit the running dunk in the ring, before the Indian Deathlock was applied on Takeshita.
Takeshita was able to break free, before Omega went for a hurricanrana – and was blocked. A flapjack into the corner followed, before a brainbuster on the floor.
Takeshita went to use a steel chair – drawing the referees attention. While the referee was distracted, Callis would stack chairs on Omega, and Takeshita dove onto him with a Swanton Bomb over the top rope.
Back in the ring, Omega took the Blue Thunder Bomb – Takeshita setting up the jumping senton. Getting his knees up, Omega would save himself – and sent Takeshita to the floor for the Terminator Dive. Back in the ring, the Snap Dragon Suplex followed, before a V-Trigger between the shoulder blades and the Poisonrana.
Takeshita blocked a German Suplex, landing on his feet before the V-Trigger landed. Omega wasn’t able to drop Takeshita, who came back with a stiff lariat – but collapsed after impact. The referee started a double count – and they fought to their feet.
Konosuke Takeshita Goes For The Killshot
Takeshita would try for a Powerbomb, with Omega countering with one of his own and a stiff knee strike. V-Trigger set up the One Winged Angel – but Takeshita would counter into the Inverted Piledriver for a two count. Keeping his grip on Omega, Takeshita followed up with a German Suplex – getting a near fall.
Omega would be able to find his feet, and hit a stiff wheel kick to the back of the neck. Takeshita would take refuge in the corner, leaving his neck open for the V-Trigger.
Omega would set up a Super One Winged Angel – but Takeshita slipped out. Taking Omega down with style, the Super Blue Thunder Bomb landed.
Power Drive Knee landed – but Omega kicked out. Callis would try to stab Omega with the screwdriver, but missed, Takeshita would take the V-Trigger, and try to use the Screwdriver to counter the One Winged Angel. The referee would disarm, but Takeshita countered into a Victory Roll, before a Deadlift German Suplex.
Omega took another Power Drive Knee – but was not staying down, showing why he’s the Best Bout Machine. Callis called for Takeshita to completely expose the knee and hit one more – and it was over, Omega was down for the three count.
FTR & Young Bucks Unite To Battle Bullet Club Gold
FTR & Young Bucks have had three high stakes tag team matches against each other, and throughout those matches – they earned respect for each other.
Tonight, that respect is tested as they team up to face mutual rivals in Bullet Club Gold. The faction of Jay White, Juice Robinson, & The Gunns have been a thorn in the side of both FTR and The Elite – and tonight, we see a massive eight man tag team match, worthy of a PPV like All Out.
Wheeler would kick things off with Colton Gunn, trading takedowns before Austin Gunn got the tag. Picking up the speed, Austin would leave himself open for a shoulder tackle.
The Bucks got in the ring, and would work together cutting The Gunns down with tag team dropkicks. Harwood tagged himself into the match, being met with White.
After some stiff chops, Wheeler would join in – punishing the chest of White. Robinson got the tag and hit some jabs on Wheeler – leading to an all out brawl at All Out. FTR & Bucks would lock all their opponents in Sharpshooters – but the referee’s count forced this to be a short lived moment – needing just one from each team in the ring.
Robinson & Harwood would get things under control, with Robinson getting a sleeper hold before being dropped with a backdrop.
Harwood was dragged to the floor by White and dropped onto the apron with a front drop suplex – before a dropkick from Colton. Harwood would be unable to make a tag, until avoiding the Cannonball Senton and reaching Nick Jackson.
Colton Gunn Is In The Right Place At Right Time
A Superkick Party in Chicago would follow – as Matt got involved as well. Wheeler tagged himself in for a Sunset Flip on Austin, before a double superkick with Matt.
Robinson ducked a superkick, and Harwood caught him with a DDT. White turned and blocked from a double superkick, and Nick hit him with a slingshot facebuster.
FTR & Bucks set up the Triple Power & Glory – with Harwood hitting a superplex, and his partners hitting Austin with top rope dives. Robinson saved the match, and White got the tag from Austin. Picking up where they left off in the ring last night, Harwood & White traded chops as their partners recovered.
Harwood nailed a Short Arm Lariat, and FTR wanted Shatter Machine – only for Robinson to make the save. Nick took Robinson out, and hit Shatter Machine with Harwood on Austin before diving onto Robinson. Matt & Harwood hit White with the BTE Trigger, but Colton made the save.
Colton got the tag as White hit Blade Runner – scoring the deciding pinfall in the process. The Gunns pinned the AEW World Tag Team Champions – setting the stage for a rematch.
