Jon Moxley is right at home as the AEW International Champion. Having taken the belt from Orange Cassidy in the main event of AEW All Out – Moxley has hit the ground running, building up title defenses against Action Andretti, AR Fox & Big Bill.
However, one man has had his eye on Moxley for weeks now, after being put on the injured list ahead of All In. Rey Fenix is back – and is ready for revenge on Moxley, and taking the International Championship would be a great start to that goal.
Rey Fenix Beats Jon Moxley At His Own Game
Fenix would meet Moxley on the ramp, choosing to start this match with a brawl. Moxley would be sent off the ramp, and Fenix followed with a dive. Back in the ring, Fenix would springboard off the ropes, using his speed as an advantage – only for Moxley to bring things back to a fight.
Another brawl on the floor would see Fenix thrown into the crowd, before an elevated DDT off the barricade. Moxley would punch a grounded Fenix in the ring with stiff right hands, before driving him into the corner. Fenix used his speed to slip free, springing off the ropes for a spinning heel kick.
Moxley would roll across the ring, and Fenix followed with a Rolling Cutter. Fenix would set up Moxley on the barricade, and came off the top rope with a leg drop.
Back in the ring, Fenix would be caught with a Death Rider – before being locked in the Texas Cloverleaf. Moxley would notice Fenix wasn’t giving up – and moved into the STF.
Fenix would refuse to quit, and was forced into the corner before some stiff knife edge chops. Moxley would try for a Superplex, but was shoved to the mat for a Springboard Double Stomp – getting Fenix a two count. Fenix would lose control and was dropped on his head with the Piledriver – getting a near fall.
Fenix would bounce back and hit a set of Fenix Drivers – ending the reign of Moxley in short order. Moxley barely kicked out of the first one, and the second one was a formality.
The AEW International Championship has been brought back to Death Triangle, and Fenix has now held the Tag Team, Trios & International Championships during his AEW tenure.
Saraya Tries To Beat The Crazy Out Of Toni Storm
Saraya would win the big one at AEW All In – becoming the AEW Women’s World Champion. This was at the expense of her Outcasts ally, Toni Storm – who was aiming to leave the UK once again the champion after losing the belt to Hikaru Shida. Storm would snap after this loss, and truly become unpredictable as a result.
She would cost Ruby Soho the TBS Championship at All Out, and tonight at Grand Slam – looks to defeat Saraya and become the first three time champion.
Storm would be slapped as the match began, Saraya yelling that she needs her to be relevant in AEW. Saraya would hit some knee strikes after forcing Storm into the ropes, before being tripped up on the apron.
Soho would see as Storm hid under the ring, and grabbed a set of shoes before beating down her former teammate. While the referee would take the shoes out from the ring, Storm would use a high heel as a weapon for a sneaky two count.
Storm would hit a draping DDT onto the apron, targeting the formerly injured neck of Saraya. A second draping DDT in the ring got a two count.
Keeping the pressure on with some chops in the corner, before trying for a top rope move. Saraya would block with the Sunset Flip Powerbomb, before trading strikes in the middle of the ring with Storm.
Soho would run the distraction, rolling Saraya the can of spray paint. Storm was sprayed before taking the Night Cap – the combo that ended the match at All In.
Storm would kick out, before kissing Saraya and hitting the Storm Zero for a near fall. Storm would try for the running hip attack in the corner, but missed before an Elevated Night Cap for the victory.
