AEW star Chris Jericho recently discussed a talk had with CM Punk during All In and about his fellow former World Champion’s departure from the company.
Their discussion was mainly about what they were doing in their matches. Jericho was inquisitive about it Punk was planning to do the top rope Frankensteiner—a move the former Real World Champion does as well.

Le Champion said that Punk wasn’t doing the move. He also joked about doing the GTS during his match. Chris Jericho expressed regret that CM Punk was out of AEW but respected Tony Khan’s decision and said Punk left on top.
Once again CM Punk is the talk of wrestling as his future is the topic on everyone’s mind. Will he simply go back into retirement or will he join another company. The big pick at the moment is Punk returning to WWE as there is very real interest in having him back.
Of course, not everyone is gung-ho about the idea. It’s a mix of “We had Punk in his best years, we’ve seen his recent sh**—we’re good on that” and “We just don’t want Punk here.”
From a booking standpoint, having Punk in any company would add some flavor to match ups and storylines as there is a lot to work with him as a former WWE superstar and an ousted AEW star.
If a company wanted to go worked shoot with Punk—that would be right up his alley. A company going a more traditional booking route where backstage drama and reality aren’t infused in the product could still benefit from Punk’s star power. Hell, AEW benefited greatly both from CM Punk the wrestler and his controversy.
It should also be noted that both WWE and AEW were able to get something out of Punk that translated well to generate buzz for their creative.
Fans wanted to know what was going on him and what’s next. Even while not affiliated with a company, we still want to know what’s next for the Best in the World.
The main drawbacks to Punk’s departure from AEW are the storylines he never got to have with his contemporaries and up-and-comers. Also, his AEW run added another coat to him being perceived as being difficult.
