Did JD McDonagh Switch the MITB Contract?

The WWE has been rife with fun storylines since Triple H took over WWE Creative, and there’s a chance we’re in for another battle over the ownership of the Money in the Bank contract.

A few years back during the pandemic Otis won the MITB by accident when the briefcase fell into his hands, and the Miz took exception to that and kept going after him and even when to wrestler’s court to win custody.

Did JD McDonagh Switch the MITB Contract?

While the storyline had its moments, it also showed how desperate the WWE was at coming up with a storyline, almost like Otis winning it was a whim and it was used more as a gag as Otis used the briefcase as a lunch box to thwart Miz’s attempts to steal it.

Fast forward a few years later and we could have a similar storyline coming, but with a different twist.

    Bait and switch

When JD McDonagh came out and presented Damian Priest with a purple and black Senor Money in the Bank briefcase it seemed like a peace offer between the two as JD has been trying to get into the Judgement Day.

But some sharp eyed fans noticed something in the exchange. After Priest accepted the briefcase they didn’t move the contract from the old one into the new one.

Sure, it’s something that could’ve been done backstage and all, but what if it didn’t? The original briefcase seemed to disappear.

Add in that Rhea Ripley prevented Priest from cashing in on Seth Rollins after Shinsuke Nakamura attacked him and it feels like the group is starting to turn on Priest.

It made no sense for him not to cash in then. Rollins was hurting and barely moving and chances are there won’t be a better time.

Ripley could be trying to save it to be used on the tag titles if they lose them, but since she’s pro JD joining there could be other things being planned.

    Balor gets the contract

Since Priest handed the old briefcase over, we think it’s safe to say the MITB contract found its way into Finn Balor’s hands at some point, and with possession being nine tenths of the law, he could keep it.

We don’t see them going to wrestler’s court again, but having a match for it and that’ll be when the Judgement Day turns on Priest.

Balor will get the win and the contract to cash it in on Rollins and Priest will complete his face turn after being kicked out of the group.

This may seem like a stretch, but things are lining up in this direction, and if they’re not it’s a good, and maybe unintentional red herring.

Was Priest swindled out of the MITB contract? Let us know in the comments below.
