A faction from Ring of Honor would recently make the jump to All Elite Wrestling. The Righteous have begun showing up on shows like AEW Rampage – and fans instantly would compare them to the Wyatt Family.
Vincent, Dutch and former Dark Order member Stu Greyson have been getting that comparison for a while now – but they know they can’t fill those shoes.
Dutch Confirms The Righteous Signed With AEW – Can’t Replace Bray Wyatt
During an interview with Bryan Asbury on Developmentally Speaking, Dutch would talk about being signed to AEW – and the comparisons to The Wyatt Family.
“Everything’s going great. Couldn’t be better. We’re officially signed with AEW now, so yeah, it’s a big deal. It’s a big deal for us. We want to create something that people haven’t seen in a long time. I know we’re gonna be getting comparisons to The Wyatt Family and this and that, but everything’s been done already.
There will never be another Bray Wyatt, nothing will ever compare to him or his creativity, or the way that his brain works. Nobody will ever be like him ever again. Like I said, we’re obviously gonna be getting the comparisons, but the stuff that we have in mind for our future is brand-new and exciting stuff, and some fun stuff on the way, hopefully.”
Wyatt Six Was A Situation With Some Smoke
Dutch was nearly brought into WWE as part of a planned faction with Bray Wyatt, having done a month – and even with it not working out, it helped him get his job with AEW.
“I don’t know if we’ll ever know if there was any truth to the Wyatt 6 group. But, definitely seemed like it was leaning in that direction. Definitely seemed like it was leaning in that direction and I think it would’ve been great. I mean, we were down there in NXT for a week or so back in December and yeah, the ball seemed to be rolling at the time and then it kind of just got stopped for whatever reason. I mean maybe it was the illness that he had, whatever, I’m not 100 percent sure. I don’t know if we’ll ever know but, it was definitely a possibility… Oh yeah (it was Wyatt’s idea). We talked a lot about ideas and stuff and all that and never came to fruition but, the ideas and stuff that — it was being thrown around. It was being thrown around.
Like I said in my Twitter post, I don’t think that I would be in the position that I am now with AEW if it wasn’t for him and we created that buzz on social media for X amount of months whether it happened or not, like I said, everything happens for a reason. So I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him right now so… “
Big Matches Set Up After Latest AEW Rampage
Dutch & Vincent were in the recent tag team battle royale for a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championships at All Out. Vincent was eliminated by Jeff Hardy, while Dutch was eliminated by Action Andretti & Darius Martin. This was key in setting up some future tag team matches for The Righteous.
Some major tag team matches are needed to establish this team to non-ROH viewers. Having been signed to AEW deals – we can expect those to come in the future.
Promo time will also be important, and is a strength of theirs. They have proven their talent on Thursday nights, and will hopefully find some TV time to show that talent to the world. Especially putting them against legend like The Hardys could be huge for their AEW career.
