Since the writers strike and the show reportedly bringing in new writers “General Hospital” Spoilers have noticed a change in the pacing and the voice of certain characters.
We’ve also noticed a dramatic fall off of keeping track of who’s doing what or to whom.
It happens. It’s very hard to keep track of so many details in an ongoing story, but that’s also why we have series bibles to help keep track of everything.
We’ve been cautiously optimistic after Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) did a couple of about faces in three consecutive episodes, but now that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has been arrested on what’s supposed to be bogus intel has us wondering what they’re doing.
“General Hospital” Spoilers: Setting the stage
A few months back when Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) recorded the initial exchange between Sonny and Pikeman, we thought something was up to set Dex up. Especially after Brick (Stephen A. Smith) told Dex not to trust anyone but Sonny, not even him.
It screamed up a set up for Dex, like either Brick had something in place to scramble recordings or it wasn’t what he said was in the crates.
Fast forward to the last week and Brick once again had false information on a removable drive for the new nanny to take.
But she didn’t take a flash drive from Sonny’s desk. She used her own to download the information from his computer, so did Brick mean those were what he forged instead of a flash drive?
Whatever info he gave looks to be legit so someone had to drop the ball, right?
“General Hospital” Spoilers: Trick of the hand
There’s always the possibility that what’s in the crates is Pikeman goods. It could be coffee or canned goods or just packing material so they could draw out Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
If that’s the plan instead of some tracking technology and spies, it’s way too over complicated will only work in a writer’s imagination and translating it to the screen will have anyone that’s ever watched anything on organized crime shaking their heads.
Given how it looks for next week, it’s a legit sting and someone messed up big time.
Another angle is that Dex will be suspected of setting it up since Carly called him at the perfect time for him to slip away.
Which, since Sonny never ignores Carly’s calls, could be their way of fully testing him and even outing him as a plant.
There are way too many moving parts here and we hope we’re wrong and the writers have a simple solution, though if having Sonny arrested without real evidence was their plan, things will get dicey.
