The Women’s Royal Rumble match has come and gone for 2022, and while better than the Men’s Royal Rumble due to a variety of legends showing up – it still left a lot to be desired. One great example of what could have been better came with the first two entrants in the match. Sasha Banks & Melina had a stand off to start the match, but Banks quickly threw Melina out of the ring. This has a lot of fans wanting to see more, and Melina agrees.
Melina Wishes The Moment Was A Singles Match
This was the first time Melina was in a WWE ring since 2011, and she got a great reaction as she hit the ring. She was considered to be one of the best of her generation, much like Sasha Banks is today. However, fans didn’t get more than the standoff, but Melina wishes it was more – saying the following in an Instagram post.
“I wish that moment with Sasha was a singles match. To think if we were able to get a reaction like we did that night without wrestling… Can you imagine what we could do if we actually wrestled?!!!
I can wish for a match with you with all my heart and it may never happen, but whether it was 5 seconds, 60 seconds or 20 minutes in the ring with you Sasha, I’m grateful for that magic moment at the Rumble no matter how short. I will forever keep that in my heart.”
Potentially A Strong Wrestlemania Match?
With a clear interest from fans and at least one of the two participants, this is WWE’s chance to set up a match for Wrestlemania. Once again, they’re bringing two nights of action – and currently Sasha Banks has no direction. Ronda Rousey is going for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, leaving Banks without much for Wrestlemania.
Bringing Melina back to build up a singles match between the two could really add something special and memorable for fans. Banks is just coming off one of the greatest Wrestlemania main events of all time against Bianca Belair, and a match with a legend like Melina could just about match this.
