Tai Tuivasa’s signature win celebration is drinking beer out of a shoe, but he’s got another move planned for this weekend. Ahead of the UFC 271 co-main event, in which Tuivasa will face off against Derrick Lewis, the Australian heavyweight has offered to do a “cuppy” – as opposed to a “shoey” – out of Lewis’ “ball guard”.
“Well, he can throw it to me when I win and I’ll do a cuppy out of his ball guard then. I’m keen.” Derrick Lewis actually threw his ball guard into the crowd after his last fight, and he’s known for some bizarre post-fight antics, including an infamous interview in which he stripped down, declaring that his “balls was hot”. Even “The Black Beast”, however, has a line.
Tuivasa Offers To Drink Beer From Derrick Lewis’ Ball Guard
“That guy is nasty, man. I can’t do that. I don’t know. USADA needs to be knocking at his door all the time, he’s gotta be taking something to help his immune system. That is just nasty.
Man, what the hell? Nobody. I wouldn’t like to drink out of nobody’s cup. We’re all fighters so I’m pretty sure everybody’s got musty nuts. It’s all at the same level.
I’m not watching all these guy’s diets. I’m clean, so I’m probably the cleanest fighter they could drink it from, really. It’ll be warm, you remember. Like a latte.”
Both Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis are known for their phenomenal knockout power. Lewis currently boasts the UFC’s all-time record for knockout wins, and has earned himself the no. 4 spot int the UFC’s heavyweight division.
He bounced back from a TKO loss in the interim title fight to Ciryl Gane with a massive KO victory over Chris Daukaus. Tai Tuivasa, on the other hand, is riding a four-fight knockout victory streak.
Occasionally, in the fight game, when two fighters with thunder in their hands face off, the fight can become predictable, with neither willing to take sufficient risks to land a finishing blow. Tai Tuivasa, however, has a fight plan firmly in place. Simply put, the hardest punch wins.
“I’m definitely not going to go out there and wrestle him. That wouldn’t be my smartest idea, but I’m a banger as well and I think that’s going to be the fight. It’s going to be the smartest fighter wins and the person who lands the hardest punch wins.”
Do you think Tai Tuivasa is going to follow through on his “cuppy”? Let us know in the comments.
