In WWE, for a while there was a set path through the company. You’d get signed, and work your way up to RAW or Smackdown by going through the NXT brand. This is still more or less how things work, but some cases have seen people skip NXT without much of a run there – or just skip it all together like AJ Styles. One name who some fans think skipped NXT is Apollo Crews. His run in NXT was short, and he wants a second chance at making an impact on this brand.
Apollo Crews Feels His Time In NXT Was Cut Short
While speaking with Vicente Beltran just ahead of the 2022 Royal Rumble, Apollo Crews would speak about wanting to have another run in WWE’s NXT brand. He would say the following about the topic.
“NXT for me was a fantastic time as well. I feel it was cut short. I would’ve loved to stay there, maybe win a title, have a title reign a couple times. But I enjoyed it so much. Working with Triple H hands on, one-on-one was fantastic. He’s such an amazing guy so — I would love to [go back to NXT]. I would love to go there and work with some of the guys that they have down there. It’d be great. I’m always open for anything, you know what I mean? And it’s so much talent down there that I could mix it up with and have a good time with too.”
Other Talent Have Been Getting Short Runs On The Brand
Right now, there is actually a really good chance of Apollo Crews getting a chance to have this come true for him. Recently, AJ Styles had a short run in NXT – and just this past Tuesday, Dolph Ziggler made his NXT debut to call out Bron Breakker. Due to having a rather inexperienced roster, WWE is sending more seasoned names down to help draw in viewers.
There is zero reason why Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez can’t be among this crew. We could even see Crews be a top contender on the brand, and show why he was brought into WWE in the first place. Going down to NXT 2.0 could revitalise the career of Crews, after he failed to even make it into the 2022 Royal Rumble match.
